Some main ideas that I have found in, "Ocean Pollution" by: MacInnes, David F., Jr., Kähler, Karen N., Salem Press Encyclopedia, 2013 from the Front Range Community College library database, are related to my blog inquiry questions which are the effects that ships
alone have on the ocean. This source gives several examples of gas leaks into
our ocean that were caused by shipwrecks in the 90’s. I knew that oil spills
were a huge part of the pollution in the ocean, but I wasn’t aware that it
occurred back in the 90’s. This leads me to ask, how early did ocean pollution
start?
Another main idea that this source used that is
related to my blog topic is the impact on the ocean. It gets into detail about
the impacts on the ocean that we do not see.
The similarities of the views by the authors from
these two sources, is the impact on the ocean. The two authors both come across
in a similar manner, and approached this matter very efficiently and
effectively. They both have come across in a way that would make the reader
feel how big of an impact this issue truly is.
The difference between the two sources is one being a
short documentary if you will. The other source was from a library database
that I found to be very helpful. Although the
information was similar, both authors had different tones and viewpoints on how
the information that came across.

The video above I came across in researching my topics, and some main ideas in this include different people’s perspectives on ocean pollution. Something that is similar to my blog idea is how all of this garbage does not need to end up in the ocean; there is a better way to make sure the oceans stay clean. Otherwise we are harming the ocean in a way we won’t ever understand, until it’s too late.
Hi, I came back your topic because it is a very interesting. You might add to it some of the huge oil spills that have occurred. This all reminds me of the Exxon Valdez tanker that dumped 11 million gals of oil in to the ocean in Alaska in 1989. This spill killed many animals. It was the worst spill in history until the Deep Water horizon spill in 2011. I like your question " how early did ocean pollution start?" It would be interesting to know the answer to this question. I bet it goes way back.
ReplyDeleteI found your post very interesting because I have never really paid much attention to ocean pollution. I didn’t realize that there were gas leaks into the ocean that were caused by shipwrecks in the 90’s. I am aware of oil spills but I haven’t really followed up the news on them. I think you bring up some very important questions like: “How early did ocean pollution start?” I do agree with you when you say “that there is a better way to make sure the oceans stay clean.”
ReplyDeleteThe most interesting thing that I found in your article was the pie graph breaking down percentages of pollution into the ocean. I was unaware that air pollution went into the ocean, but after thinking about it, that makes perfect sense on how it would get in to the ocean. This made me think of how many thousands of marine life was affected by these oil spills and how many fish species? I really like your question “do we choose to do nothing about ocean pollution?” I agree with you that we as a nation could be doing much more to prevent and clean up ocean pollution.
