What Should We Do?

The process throughout this blog has opened my horizons to the effects of ocean pollution. The process of putting a blog together in general, is a unique way to learn about a subject in depth. I’ve known for a while what our pollutants have done to the ocean, but since writing this blog I have learned that this is an absolute catastrophe that a lot of people are so unaware of. To conclude, I did not find an actual answer to the general question of how we start to change the serious problem of pollution. According to greentumble.com , we can do five things to start a process in helping this environment. Reduce plastic use, avoid harmful chemicals, go organic, volunteer at cleanups, and spread the word. I believe a lot of this would help if everyone followed these rules. Unfortunately I don’t believe anybody is aware about this, and it’s hard to accomplish a lot of these rules in today’s world. How many people on Earth do you think it would take to start changing an entire environ...

Some main ideas that I have found in, "Ocean Pollution" b y: MacInnes, David F., Jr., Kähler, Karen N., Salem Press Encyclopedia, 2013  from the Front Range Community College library database, are related to my blog inquiry questions which are the effects that ships alone have on the ocean. This source gives several examples of gas leaks into our ocean that were caused by shipwrecks in the 90’s. I knew that oil spills were a huge part of the pollution in the ocean, but I wasn’t aware that it occurred back in the 90’s. This leads me to ask, how early did ocean pollution start?  Another main idea that this source used that is related to my blog topic is the impact on the ocean. It gets into detail about the impacts on the ocean that we do not see.    The similarities of the views by the authors from these two sources, is the impact on the ocean. The two authors both come across in a similar manner, and approached this matter very efficiently and eff...

“Ocean Pollution: The Dirty Facts,” by Melissa Denchak was posted on January 22 nd , 2018. This is one of the articles that came from NRDC.org that I am using for this blog. This article talks about the importance of our oceans, and leads into the pollution of our waters. This article is informational on how our ocean ends up getting polluted, and the breakdown of fuels and garbage that eventually cause acidification. "It’s estimated that by the end of this century, if we keep pace with our current emissions practices, the surface waters of the ocean could be nearly 150 percent more acidic than they are now." This is a statement from Melissa Denchak, and this is when the article really stuck out to me. The article then leads into how garbage kills our ocean life, which starts a change in the environment not only in the ocean, but affects us on land too.  https://greenliving.lovetoknow.com/image/211943~starfish_oil_spill.jpg I found this source ...

What are humans doing to the ocean? This subject is so important in today’s society. Humans have been affecting our oceans for decades, but it has gotten out of control not only in this last decade, but this has been happening for over eleven thousand years! The effects on the oceans caused by humans have a huge impact on myself, living so close to the ocean. Seeing the ocean life that is affected by our trash is life changing. The animals within the ocean are helpless, and humans don’t seem to recognize what we are really doing to our environment. There is evidence found all over the oceans from the effect of human pollution. This includes ocean pollution, destruction of ocean life, and more. Humans come with a lot of waste, which is found too often across our waters.  We all know that we pollute the Earth, and have a huge part to do with global warming. This is why I want to write a blog about this topic. Ocean pollution matters, and we are going to see a huge change in the ...
